Class Details
Dialectical Behavior Therapy or DBT has been proven to increase client emotional stability and improve quality of life. Through the instruction and practice of coping skills, along with individual therapy, participants in DBT can expect real results in handling crises, emotional reactions, and interpersonal challenges. Our classes use the 2nd edition instruction manual and handouts (link below) developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD.
Though originally developed for hospitalized clients and Borderline Personality Disorder, DBT has proven to be effective for many different types of issues. If your goal is to manage emotions, decrease impulsiveness, improve health and relationships, and enhance your overall quality of life, then these classes can help you get there.
For clients with high-risk symptoms and behaviors, your therapist is highly encouraged to participate in a DBT Consult group for DBT professionals.
Family members are also encouraged to learn about DBT so they can be practicing these skills as well. Our adolescent group requires parental participation.
