What Life Coaching is Not
Life coaching is not a substitute for working with a licensed mental health professional. Licensed therapists work with you to diagnose and treat problematic behaviors, relationship issues, mood disorders and other mental illnesses.
A life coach can not diagnose or treat a mental illness. A life coach will help you look at where you are now, determine where you want to go and make a plan to achieve the desired results. Working with a coach can help you in many areas of your life and increase motivation to achieve your goals.
A life coach is a good fit for someone who is not in immediate, severe distress and does not engage in extremely unhealthy or life-threatening coping mechanisms.
